"LIKE A BROOK HE BABBLES,
THE DAWN, HE CRACKS."
BUT MEANWHILE, I MAKE PHOTOGRAPHS.

For the last 12 months, since the Spring of 2007, I have moseyed through Southeast Asia.  All of the photos featured on this site, come from this particular journey.

Besides flipping negatives and correcting distortion, everything* jives with AP standards. "Doesn't he know that "journalistic standards" is becoming an oxymoron?" I know, I know. Nonetheless, when I began the endless task of mastering this craft, film still ruled.  My first inspirations came from the Magnum school: honest perspectives with minimal equipment.  That's what I'm shooting for.

*Once, I did cut one lady's legs off and sew them on elsewhere, but it was for her own good.

Disclaimer: This series, and I imagine many of the ones to follow, feature both B/W and color.  I think ideally a "curation" should be one or the other.  I've always preferred B/W, but these last months I've been experimenting with color.  Asia's are especially appealing to my Texas eyes. The orange of the temples, the reds of Chinatown, the yellows of the King, not to mention the washed-out pallette of Bangkok generally.   I have tried to minimize the poor effect by placing the color at the end of the set.
